One of the kinds of recipes I created for Sane and Savory Cookbook were beverages using seasonal fruit. In other words, these are recipes in which I used fruit from the season that we are in, for example, I used winter fruit to make a drink for winter.
However, one way to eat some fruit out of season is to purchase high quality organic frozen fruit. I do that sometimes when I eat fruit with a combination of seeds and nuts for breakfast. To me it still makes more sense to eat fresh fruit that is in season, as I do not like to buy fresh fruit that has traveled all the way from Chile in South America.
I chose grapefruit as the winter fruit because it has a great kick of the vitamins we need now such as: Vitamins C, A, B1, pantothenic acid (another B vitamin), and biotin. It is also a good source of potassium and fiber. Grapefruit contains less total sugar than oranges and tangerines have. If you want to make a spicier drink, add a dash of cayenne pepper! To your health and enjoyment!
