Barbara E. Wade has worked for 24 years as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. Prior to becoming a teacher, she studied Dietetics for two and a half years at Cal State, Northridge and then at San Diego, California.
Since her twenties, she has always been interested in health and cooking, and wrote a cookbook called Sane and Savory Cookbook, which encompasses healthy sophisticated recipes using mostly organic ingredients, no sugar, healthy fats, and less salt.
When she originally wrote the book, the Metabolic Nutritionist, Dr. Richard P. Huemer (and former writer for Let’s Live Magazine, as well as a writer of several nutritional books), verified all the nutritional accuracy of the Sane and Savory Cookbook’s Introduction and other portions of the book that concern nutrition.
Throughout her life Barbara’s concern about nutrition in her daily life has never waned. She has continued shopping at health food stores and kept an eye on what was happening in nutrition and with new kinds of food ingredients. Today she eats mostly organic food. She worked on the campaign to label GMOs in the state of Oregon where she lives today. Most of her life she has helped family and friends with healthy food choices and has determined what healthy food matches her needs by listening to her own body.
After nearly 30 years, Sane and Savory Cookbook is going to become available. Ms. Wade has updated and revised over 160 older recipes and added over 60 new ones to her book to encompass what we have learned in nutrition in the 21st Century. She is basing the recipes on current nutritional books and knowledge.
